New England Patriots: Tom Brady can’t imagine life after football
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is entering his 20th NFL season and can’t imagine doing anything else in life besides playing football.
It never gets old for New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
Participating in his 20th training camp to prepare for his 20th NFL season, the almost 42-year-old quarterback is showing the sports world that age is nothing but a number. With some new weapons around him and motivation for a new contract, Brady appears to be having the time of his life.
There goes the theory that 2019 could be his last season in the NFL.

While the grind of the regular season and injury can still steer that narrative, as for now Tom Brady can’t imagine life without football and certainly is not talking retirement as of the beginning of August.
"“I have a great time,” Brady told the media on Wednesday following practice. “I love this sport. I’ve loved playing it since I was a kid. It’s hard for me to imagine doing anything else in life. I love playing ball, so to still be out here at 41, soon to be 42, it’s pretty good.”"
That love for the game certainly has Brady still at the top of his game. Coming off another Super Bowl championship, the Patriots quarterback remains one of the top players at his position which brings us to his contract situation.
As of now, Brady doesn’t have a deal beyond the 2019 NFL season. If he continues to play at a high level, it is hard to believe that the New England Patriots would allow him to get to free agency. Although, you never can tell with Bill Belichick.
When asked about his current contract, Tom Brady didn’t seem too concerned and certainly knows he will have to work hard to get the extension.
"“I’ve had such a great experience over a lot of years, and I appreciate this team and the opportunity it gave me in 2000,” Brady said. “I play for a great coach, Coach [Bill] Belichick, and Josh [McDaniels] and I have a great relationship. I love Mr. [Robert] Kraft and his family, and we’ve had just incredible success. So, hopefully we can keep it going.”"
That sounds like a quarterback who is content and confident something will get worked out. It also sounds like a football mind still willing to do what it takes to help his team’s overall success.
With his current contract, Tom Brady has a cap hit of $27 million in 2019. Doesn’t sound too Belichick-like for it to remain at that number. So, there’s a good bet something will get done before the 2019 NFL season gets underway.
Perhaps it may come as a nice birthday gift for the ageless wonder.
