Dustin Pedroia hasn’t played for the Boston Red Sox in a long time, but he is still finding a way to help his team.

On the field Dustin Pedroia hasn’t had any impact on the Boston Red Sox success. It’s hard to when you seem like you are going to be injured for the rest of eternity.

This has been a rough few years for Pedroia. It seems that his body has just failed him.

I honestly didn’t know why Pedroia hadn’t retired. It doesn’t seem like he will be playing anytime soon.

But I guess I might have been wrong because one of the Red Sox’s best players this season credits Pedroia for his success.

Boston’s best bat this season has been Rafael Devers. The young third basemen has been on a tear. This season Devers has a batting average of .326 with 28 home runs and 104 RBIs.

But things weren’t looking good for a while. Devers was in the midst of an 0-15 slump when he got some help from Pedroia.

"“I just asked for a few pointers in terms of my swing,” Devers said. “I felt like I’m not used to struggling as much and he just said that I’m trying to lift the ball too much and that I should just attack it down and that’s when I was able to adjust in my swing.”"

I still think that Pedroia’s time as a player should end. There is no way he could help the team in his current state.

But Pedroia might have a future as a coach. Red Sox fans love him so why not add him to Alex Cora’s coaching staff. Clearly Pedroia has proven that he could be a quality hitting coach.

So even though it seems like his playing career will be coming to an end rather quickly, I wouldn’t expect Pedroia to leave Boston anytime soon.
