James White, RB

Whenever the New England Patriots go up against an aggressive defense like the Buffalo Bills, James White typically plays a big role in the offense.

Whether it is catching quick passes out of the backfield, screen passes or staying in and picking up blitzes to protect Tom Brady, White should have an impact on this game.

While Julian Edelman is expected to play in this game, the fact that he is nursing a rib injury could limit him a bit.  With focus on Josh Gordon in the passing game, that should been a lot of underneath stuff to James White.

In missing Week 3 due to the birth of his son, White knows the challenge ahead of his team going up against a physical defense.

"“It’s a great challenge,” White said Wednesday.  “Every time we play these guys they give us a great game. They’re a physical defense. They’re smart guys. They disguise well. They’re good at the defensive line, linebackers, at the safety position, corners. They have everything they need. They play sound football, smart football. It’s going to be a great challenge for us, a tough environment. We’ve got to see what we’re made of.”"

While the Patriots running game really hasn’t gotten going, the backs catching the ball out of the backfield has been important for Tom Brady, especially with not much tight end production.

This game should feature a lot of James White and Rex Burkhead.  Don’t be surprised if Sony Michel gets a few looks from Brady in this game.
