New England Patriots GameDay: 5 players who will fly high vs. NY Jets
Julian Edelman, WR
With no Josh Gordon in this game, Julian Edelman will be as important as ever.
Coming off back-to-back 100-yard receiving performances, Edelman doesn’t seem too limited by the chest injury he suffered the first game these two teams faced off
Speaking of that game, Edelman was on pace for another monster performance before he left the game prior to half time with the chest injury.
In the 30-14 victory back in Week 3, Julian Edelman hauled in 7 passes for 62 yards and a touchdown. He looked uncoverable in that game and it will be no secret that the Jets secondary will be keyed in on Tom Brady’s most reliable target.
Edelman will still get his catches, but don’t rule out the team using him as a decoy to free up other playmakers. That’s why someone like Gunner Olszewski or fellow undrafted free agent rookie Jakobi Meyers will get an opportunity to make some big plays.
But, if the New England Patriots will need a big drive in a close game, the Tom Brady to Julian Edelman connection will get the job done.
