Boston Red Sox rumors: Yankees may help out team
By Sam Minton
The New York Yankees aren’t known for helping out the Boston Red Sox but they might have done so with one of their recent moves.
The New York Yankees aren’t known for being so kind to the Boston Red Sox. The two teams are apart of the biggest rivalry in all of sports. That’s why it might surprise some fans that Boston might be helped by the Yankees.
This season the Yankees acquired Edwin Encarnacion to help make a run for the World Series. That attempt was a failure.

Now that the Yankees chance failed it looks like Encarnacion won’t be returning to New York. Brian Cashman declined to extend his option for the 2020 season.
It seems like J.D. Martinez is on his way out of Boston. After a rough season in Boston, he has his eyes set for greener pastures.
You can’t blame Martinez. He is 32 years old and probably wants to win another World Series before his career is over. It’s hard to believe that will happen in Boston.
So the Red Sox will be looking for someone to be a DH. They also have to worry about signing Mookie Betts. Maybe Encarnacion could be a cheap option to replace Martinez and give the Red Sox the capital to afford a major deal for Mookie.
New Red Sox GM Chaim Bloom wants to start things off on the right foot. Losing the face of the franchise would be a rough start for Bloom in Boston.
If Betts leaves there will be a ton of pressure on Bloom to find his replacement. I don’t think that will be easy for Bloom. Betts is a generational player that doesn’t come around often.
So without even knowing it the New York Yankees might have helped the Boston Red Sox become a better team. Oh, how the times have changed.
