Tom Brady and the New England Patriots offense hasn’t been in sync all season long, but it’s time to get it rolling after the bye.

Take away talent like Rob Gronkowski, Antonio Brown and Josh Gordon from any quarterback or offensive system and a team will struggle.  It’s no different for Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

With all the turn over the team has endured offensively through the first nine games of the 2019 NFL season, there is no wonder why the Patriots’ offense hasn’t established any sort of identity yet.

Add to that the struggles and injuries to the offensive line and even the running game has had a tough time finding a niche.  But, when you have the great Bill Belichick as head coach and a quarterback as clutch as Tom Brady, you better believe the New England Patriots will get it figured out on that side of the ball.

More from Chowder and Champions

Although players like Gronkowski, Antonio Brown and Gordon aren’t suiting up, Brady has worked with a less talented supporting cast in the past and has made it work.  He knows following the bye and entering a tough part of the schedule that his bunch has to get going no and get in synch no matter who is out there on the field.

"“We’re after the bye,” Brady told reporters, as transcribed by Masslive.com.  “So all of them are – not that the ones before weren’t important – but these are the ones that you’ve gotta, this is when the team’s really gotta elevate its play.”"

That means players like Julian Edelman, Mohamed Sanu, Phillip Dorsett and Ben Watson has to step up as veterans and help Tom Brady in the passing game.  It also means that young players like Jakobi Meyers and 2019 first-round pick N’Keal Harry will get some opportunities to shine in the offense and earn some of that trust.

They pretty much have to if the New England Patriots want to see another Super Bowl berth come late January…if they are to even get there.

"“The die has been cast,” Brady continued.  “This is what we are.  This is what we’re going to do.  This is how we’re going to win.  And these are things we’re going to have to do to achieve the results we want.”"

Unless Rob Gronkowski does return to football by the Nov. 30 deadline, it won’t be an easy ride for Brady heading down the stretch.  Players like Edelman and Sanu will answer the call, but the young player in the passing game have to give the 42-year-old quarterback some other outlets.

If not them, more emphasis will be on Sony Michel, Rex Burkhead, Brandon Bolden, James White and that New England Patriots running game to take some of the pressure off.  That, of course, involves a more stabilized offensive line.  The return of Isaiah Wynn should help, but offensive lineman like Marcus Cannon and Shaq Mason also need to step up and play to the caliber they are capable of.

In all, this is the cast and crew Tom Brady is ready to ride with.  He has made it work with a lot less in his twenty seasons under center for the New England Patriots.
