Coach’s corner

Bill Belichick doesn’t get out coached often, but when he does, he gives credit where credit is due and typically bounces back the next time he faces that team.

More from Chowder and Champions

Coming off the loss by the Baltimore Ravens, Belichick and his coaching staff certainly had some work to do going into the bye week.  With defending the run and stabilizing the offensive line are tops on the list, the Patriots will certainly be tested in both areas taking on a Doug Pederson coached team that got the best of Belichick in Super Bowl LII.

This time, it won’t be Nick Foles they will have to defend, it will be Carsen Wentz who is capable of hurting the Patriots with both his arm and feet.

While the Eagles will be missing a few of their top offensive players, they are still a tough challenge on both sides of the ball.

Here’s what coach had to say about those Eagles this past Friday, via Patriots.com:

"“So, the Eagles are a tough team to prepare for. We spent a lot of time getting ready for them this week. It’s definitely a challenge, but I think we’re getting to the point here where it’s time to go out there and put it on the field. So, we have one more good tune-up today, hopefully, and cover some situations, nail down a few loose ends and be ready to go on Sunday. Looking forward to the opportunity. I know it’ll be tough down there, but that’s what the NFL is. They’re all tough.”"

In all, there probably won’t be any Philly specials that catch the Patriots by surprise, but Bill Belichick seems focused on making sure they don’t get caught off guard by any surprises Pederson and the Eagles throw their way.
