3 takeaways: Boston Celtics take the sting out of Charlotte
Romeo Langford showing his promise
The Boston Celtics rookies continued to impress in Sunday night’s victory over the Charlotte Hornets.
Late first-round pick Grant Williams topped his career high of 11 points the game previously against the Detroit Pistons with 12 points against the Charlotte Hornets. But, even more promising for the Celtics was the play of their top pick Romeo Langford.

With both Gordon Hayward and Marcus Smart sitting out once again, the 6-foot-6 Indiana product has been getting some extended time on the court and has proved to be ready for his opportunity.
As the highest Celtics draft pick, Langford has been the least talked about mainly due to an injury that kept him out of summer league play and the depth the team has as the wing position.
In spending most of his time so far with the Boston Celtics affiliate Maine Red Claws, Romeo Langford is now showing off his talent on the NBA level and it couldn’t have come at a better time for the team and the player.
After scoring his first points in a Celtics’ uniform Friday night, Langford followed that up with eight points (3-for-6 shooting) and four rebounds against the Hornets on Sunday.
In flashing his potential and the reason why Danny Ainge took him with the No. 14 pick overall, health and consistency will be the key to what the Boston Celtics get out of him during his rookie campaign.
While some feel Romeo Langford was selected as Jaylen Brown insurance, his play could play a role in if the team decided to trade Gordon Hayward. Knowing how Ainge operates, he could be a trade piece himself.
