The Boston Celtics already have an All-Star game starter in Kemba Walker. When reserves are announced, at least one of his teammates will likely join him.

The roster for the NBA’s All-Star game is always a heavily debated topic. Each year there are snubs that enrage fans and media alike. Between Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics, one of them is highly likely to be a snub.

When this post reaches you, the reserves might have been announced already, so let’s make one thing clear: Both of these players are certainly worthy of being selected to the All-Star game. Unfortunately it would be pretty surprising to see them both make it given the talent across the Eastern Conference.

Tatum and Brown are both having career years and are helping the Celtics maintain pace in the East standings. It wouldn’t be totally out of bounds to call them the two best players on the team, although the fans, players, and media voting Kemba Walker as a starter would lead you to believe otherwise.

It wouldn’t be such a terrible thing for one of them to miss out on being an All-Star, as that just serves as motivation for them to further improve their game. However, it is a great honor to be selected as it emphasizes their rise to stardom. Either way, Brown and Tatum have made Celtics fans proud.

The fact that the team has three All-Star caliber players serves as a reminder that the Celtics are poised for a bright future. While Walker is an established veteran, he’s not exactly old at 29 years of age. However, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown being 21 and 23 respectively is still a very exciting component to this team.

While Boston Celtics fans have been beating everyone over the head with the youth and potential of these two players, it’s nice to finally see that potential paying off. All-Star or not, they are both solidly in the discussion at this stage in their careers and that is something to revel in.

Just imagine how much more of a case they’ll have next year, or in the years to come. The NBA is littered with talent so it would be difficult to hang our heads too low if one of them is snubbed. Just remember, these two are going to be around for a while.

So, when the reserves are announced keep this in mind: There is a bigger picture in Boston.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have finally blossomed into the players everyone thought they would be, and as a result the Boston Celtics are closer to being a championship contending team again.

Knowing that, regardless of who is an All-Star and who isn’t, is satisfactory enough.
