5. Davis Bertans

Who is Davis Bertans and why would the Boston Celtics have interest?

Well, if Danny Ainge can’t find a big man via trade, he may decide to get some more scoring off the bench and Bertans can definitely provide that.

More from Chowder and Champions

Averaging 15.0 and 4.6 rebounds, the 27-year-old small forward is having himself a season for the struggling Washington Wizards who only have an outside chance of a playoff run once after the All-Star break, so they are a team that could be sellers at the NBA Trade Deadline.

With Davis Bertans also set to become an unrestricted free agent who is trending towards a big contract, the Wizards may look to get what they can now for Bertans if they feel they can’t re-sign him.

Who has assets that may intrigue the Wizards?

Well, the Boston Celtics of course, who have been rumored to have interest in the 6-foot-10 sharp-shooter.

Along with draft assets, Ainge would have a number of young players to dingle to the Wizards, so a deal would be possible without giving up any of their core players.  But, is a possible high draft pick and young players worth a player in Davis Bertans who may just be a rental for the rest of the season?

We all know Danny Ainge, if he feels Bertans can help the team go far in the playoffs, he will make the deal.
