Trent Williams is there for the taking and the New England Patriots should go after the left tackle.

There were plenty of holes in the New England Patriots offense last season. At points, Tom Brady could even be considered one of them.

But lately, the New England Patriots have struggled to put together a strong offensive line. Especially last season it was a liability to the team.

It didn’t help that David Andrews was out for the season. He is a key piece of the offensive line and is one of the best centers New England has had in a while.

Now that we are in the offseason the Patriots have some work to do. Joe Thuney is a free agent and it seems like he could get a major payday by leaving New England. That likely means the Patriots will be in the market for a left guard.

That is why the recent update on Trent Williams is major news. The Redskins are allowing Williams to seek a trade.

Williams is well rested after not playing at all last season. He sat out the season due to concerns over how Washington handles his medical issues.

If the Patriots acquired Williams they would have a veteran left tackle and could move Isaiah Wynn to left guard to replace Thuney.

After missing the entire season teams could get Williams at a much more reasonable cost. Maybe the Patriots could get Willams for a late round draft pick. If that is the cost for Williams there is no reason for New England to not go after him.

If the Patriots offensive line is strengthened you have to believe it makes Tom Brady feel better about returning to New England. They would still need to get some pass-catching weapons but making sure Brady stays upright at his age is very important.
