The release of Stephen Gostkowski signals a new era at the kicker position for the New England Patriots and there is one guy who can fill his shoes.

It seems like all the veteran players that we know and love are leaving the team. First, we had Tom Brady and now we have lost our kicker. On Monday, the New England Patriots announced that they had released veteran kicker Stephen Gostkowski.

This doesn’t come as a total shock to fans. These last two season Gostkowski has been subpar, to say the least.

2019 was Gostkowski’s worst year in the NFL specifically because of his extra-point attempts. He missed an extra point every four attempts. That is horrendous.

Gostkowski was getting old and the New England Patriots would rather let go of someone too early rather than too late.

So now the question is what will the Patriots do? Will they draft a new kicker or sign an established veteran.

At this point, I think the best option for New England would be to look towards the NFL Draft and there is one player who seems like the best option, Rodrigo Blankenship.

Blankenship is the star kicker out of Georgia. He is known for his swagged out goggles and his infamous photo with the mega rap group Migos.

But Blankenship isn’t just a sideline attraction, he is a great kicker. In college he made over 90 percent of his kicks within 40 yards and also has made more than 80 percent of his field goals in his career.

The New England Patriots are getting younger so why not get a kicker right out of college. Then hopefully he will be on New England for as long as Gostkowski has.

Next. Stay far away from Andy Dalton. dark

So if the New England Patriots are going to draft a new kicker, they have to select Blankenship.
