With Tom Brady gone it wouldn’t be a surprise if the New England Patriots drafted a quarterback. Mel Kiper Jr. believes Jordan Love is their guy.

Thankfully the NFL has found a way to keep pouring out news in this currently sportless world. One of the biggest stories being that Tom Brady left the New England Patriots.

With that in mind, the Patriots have some decisions to make. Will they stick with Jarrett Stidham, draft a quarterback, or sign a veteran like Cam Newton?

Well draft expert Mel Kiper Jr believes that the Patriots won’t be sticking with Stidham. He has New England selecting Jordan Love in the 1st round.

Love stands tall like your prototypical quarterback at 6’4″ 225 pounds. He is very athletic running a 4.74 40 yard dash and has a great arm.

If the Patriots are looking to start throwing the deep ball, Love would be a solid selection. He isn’t afraid to let his wideouts go up and make a play and has the arm strength to get the ball to them.

The problem with Love is last season he was pretty bad. He had 20 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. That wouldn’t be good in the NFL and definitely doesn’t cut it in college. Especially when you consider that the defenses he will be facing in the NFL will be much better.

The problem is that he telegraph’s his throws and seems to have issues making the correct read.  If he continues to telegraph his throws he will be eaten alive in the NFL.

But if Bill Belichick and Josh McDaniels can mold Love into a quality quarterback the Patriots could be a dangerous team. Love’s strong arm would be perfect for a guy like N’Keal Harry. Harry is extremely athletic and can use that athleticism to go up and make some great catches.

Love has the raw potential to become a quality quarterback. He showed in 2018 that he can put up some impressive numbers. All the Patriots have to do is take that leap of faith in the 2020 NFL Draft.
