Boston Celtics: Marcus Smart is healthy, cleared of COVID-19
By Sam Minton
Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart was one of the first Boston athletes to announce he had tested positive for the coronavirus. Thankfully he has announced he has made a complete recovery.
The entire world has been sheltering themselves as we brave this coronavirus pandemic (the sports world included). The first of the core 4 sports to fall was the NBA and one of the first teams to announce a player tested positive was the Boston Celtics.
On March 19th, Marcus Smart announced that he had tested positive for the Coronavirus. He said that he had no symptoms and was feeling great but this still can be a nerve-racking moment.
Well now everything is much better for Smart. After self quarantining, Smart announced on his Twitter Sunday night that he was healthy and received results on Friday that showed he was coronavirus free.
Of course everyone is happy to hear that. Smart is one of the most beloved Celtics on the roster.
Smart embodies everything that you love about a player. Whenever he is on the court he gives 100 percent and doesn’t stop until the final buzzer sounds.
The 2019-20 season was going great for Smart. He had become a much improved shooter and was obviously an amazing defender.
But this was by far Smart’s best season. He was averaging 13.5 points and 4.8 assists a game.
Smart is the rock of the team. He is without a doubt the captain of the C’s and is a fan favorite.
This season had been going well for the Celtics. They had really surprised people with how well they have played. We got to see Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown take big leaps in their career. If Boston can keep both of these players their future will be mighty bright.
Hopefully, the season will eventually resume and we will get to see what the Celtics are truly made of. It would be a shame if an NBA champion was not named.
But for now we aren’t worried about playing basketball games. We are just happy to know that Marcus Smart has recovered and whenever basketball returns, he will be playing.
