New England Patriots Rumors: An offseason plan not so obvious
Maybe rumors of a New England Patriots rebuild are right?
Yet, hold on, what about the wholesale free-agent defections of some pretty good defensive players? Kyle Van Noy, Jamie Collins, Danny Shelton and Elandon Roberts from their good but highly overrated defense all left.
On special teams, Stephen Gostkowski the long-time great placekicker was released and Nate Ebner a good special team player, left in free agency. So they’re not staying the course?
And those are in addition to Brady, wide receiver Phillip Dorsett who also left in free agency and tight end Ben Watson who retired. So, they must be rebuilding or at least undergoing a major retooling? Right?
The fact is, no one should have any clue what the New England Patriots are doing. In light of the recent moves on their 2019 roster and their rather uninspiring free agency acquisitions to-date, the New England Patriots moves thus far in the off-season are frankly incomprehensible.
While some Boston and other prognosticators speculate about likely Patriots’ draft picks, we can expect the unexpected and an absolutely unfathomable draft as always from the New England Patriots. Most likely. I think.
So the question, “is there a plan?” and if so, “what is it?” remains unanswered and maybe unanswerable. And it likely will remain so after the draft. Please let me know if you, in fact, can decipher the plan. I’d be very grateful and happy to be enlightened by such a talented cryptologist.
