Eduardo Rodriguez

Right now the Boston Red Sox are without there supposed ace. Chris Sale had Tommy John surgery so even if there is a season he won’t be pitching. This gave Eduardo Rodriguez a unique opportunity.

E-Rod is coming off a fantastic 2019. He was far and away the best Red Sox pitcher last season. Rodriguez had a 19-6 record with a 3.81 ERA and over 200 strikeouts.

One of the most important stats to come from E-Rod was his innings pitched being over 200. Guys like Chris Sale and David Price weren’t able to last that long. Rodriguez has been a consistent workhouse for Boston.

With Sale out for the season and Price in LA, Rodriguez has an interesting opportunity once baseball returns. If Rodriguez can continue to put up similar numbers he will be the ace for the Red Sox.

Boston could have an opportunity to make up for the Jon Lester debacle and ensure that the team has an ace for the future. On the other hand, Boston could pull a Mookie Betts and fail to break out the checkbook.

Eduardo Rodriguez is definitely itching to get back out on the field and prove that last season was not a fluke.
