Devin McCourty has campaigned for Chris Hogan but the New England Patriots shouldn’t bring the veteran wide receiver back.

The New England Patriots need better wide receiver talent. Last season’s group didn’t get the job done.

That doesn’t mean they should just bring any old wide receiver on the roster. New England’s roster needs to get younger. Now that Tom Brady is no longer on the roster, there is no reason to go all in for the 2020 season.

The Patriots need to undergo a slight rebuild. They won’t be tanking for the No.1 pick, but the roster needs to be retooled.

Devin McCourty made it be known that he hopes one player finds his way back to New England. On his podcast, he said he wants Chris Hogan to make a return.

Hogan had some great moments with the Patriots but his best days are behind him. It wouldn’t be a smart move for New England to bring him back.

Last season Hogan was on the Carolina Panthers and he didn’t do a lot. He appeared in 7 games and only had 8 catches for 67 yards. Even when Hogan was in New England he started to get phased out of the offense.

I would much rather the Patriots either draft another wide receiver or even see what guys like N’Keal Harry can do with Jarret Stidham at quarterback.

The Patriots already have veteran guys like Julian Edelman and Mohamed Sanu. Bringing in Chris Hogan wouldn’t do them any good. The only way the Patriots should bring in Hogan is if he signs for the league minimum. I don’t imagine that will be happening so the team should stay far away from the wideout.

Things are changing in New England. That means the Patriots can’t go back to their old ways. It is time for them to find new players who will become future stars. Not old players whose better days are behind them.
