New England Patriots: Marqise Lee an interesting addition
By Sam Minton
The New England Patriots signed Marqise Lee and he could become a major part of New England’s offense.
The New England Patriots needed to get better in the passing game. Last season their group of wide receivers were subpar to say the least.
With a new quarterback under center, the Patriots needed to upgrade the position. They can do this through both the draft and through free agency. New England got to work on Thursday.

The Patriots signed Marqise Lee to a 1-year deal. He is definitely someone you will want to keep an eye on.
Lee was all the rage coming out of USC. He was drafted in the 2nd round to the Jaguars and has put together some impressive seasons in the NFL. Even with some subpar quarterbacks.
In 2016, Lee had 63 catches for 851 yards and 3 touchdowns. If he can bring similar numbers to New England that would be amazing.
But in recent years Lee has struggled. Last season he only appeared in 6 games.
The New England Patriots provide Lee with an opportunity to rebuild his career. He should be able to get some playing time in New England. Right now with the Patriots yet to make a draft pick, Lee seems to be 3rd or 4th on the depth chart. He will have to earn his spot.
If Lee is healthy and produces this deal would be a steal for New England. The Patriots get him for cheap and help out their new quarterback.
I’ve liked Lee since he came out of college. Now that he is with the Patriots I think we will finally see him flourish. Hopefully, he will put up a career year in 2020.
So the Patriots made a smart move by signing Lee. Hopefully, he doesn’t let his new team down and underperforms in his first season.
