Boston Celtics big man Enes Kanter is already setting up his career after basketball as a WWE superstar.

Athletes making the switch from professional sports to the WWE is nothing new, especially since the current 24/7 champion is former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski.  Well, add Boston Celtics big man Enes Kanter to the mix…at least after his basketball career is over.

In an interview with NBA insider Shams Charania for Stadium, Kanter revealed that he not only has been offered a deal from the WWE but plans to accept it.

"“I am definitely becoming a WWE wrestler,” Kanter said.  “I already have offers from WWE but I have to finish my basketball career first.”"

Sounds smart, but let’s remember Enes Kanter has already made his presence known in the WWE.

In between battling on the boards for rebounds and getting into Twitter beefs with LeBron James, Kanter was himself the WWE 24/7 champion after pinning R-Truth at a Monday Night Raw live event at Madison Square Garden back in September of 2019.

Now, his title defense didn’t last long.  It didn’t last long at all as R-Truth won his title back almost immediately.  But it was then that his taste of WWE superstardom gained some flavor.

The Turkish big man said months after his brief 24/7 title that he was in talks with the WWE to continue his wrestling ways when his NBA career is over.  In fact, he said he’s ready and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he did make some WWE appearances until he can be a full-time star.

Enes Kanter has the WWE personality

Obviously, not every professional athlete can make the transition to the world of wrestling entertainment.

More from Boston Celtics

Most have the physical attributes, but it really takes personality and the ability to make fans either love you or hate you.

Just during his brief time with the Boston Celtics, Enes Kanter has proven he has that ability as fans have gone from disliking him as a former New York Knicks aggressor to loving him as a rebounding machine off the bench.  He also has a comedic side with a twist of bluntness that will make him a polarizing personality in the WWE.

Of course, his 6-foo-10 frame will make him a monster and an intimidating presence, but it is his ability to engage with audiences and feed off the fans (if there is any fans) in stadiums that will make him an entertaining factor.

And Enes Kanter doesn’t back down from anyone.  From LeBron James to the government of his home country of Turkey, the Celtics big man does not shy away from a battle with anyone.

Could he be the next Kane, The Great Khali or the late-Andre the Giant given his height?  Well, if he throws body slams like he grabs rebounds in the NBA, sky is the limit.

Vince McMahon eat your heart out.
