New England Patriots: Stop hating on Jarrett Stidham
By Sam Minton
Everyone seems to be doubting Jarrett Stidham before he has even started a game for the New England Patriots. Let’s give him a chance to show what he can do.
Ever since Tom Brady left the New England Patriots people have been proclaiming that it is the end of days in New England. For some reason, people think that they are about to become the worst team in the NFL.
This seems like a gross overreaction. The Patriots still have one of the best defenses in the NFL and the offense is still capable of putting up points.

But for some reason, everyone is saying how bad Jarrett Stidham will do. They aren’t even giving the guy a chance.
One of these critics is former Patriots tight end Jermaine Wiggins. Wiggy isn’t too confident in Stidham.
"“Stidham has a five percent chance of being successful, and when we say successful we mean Dak Prescott or Kirk Cousins,” Wiggins said."
5 percent? C’mon Wiggy.
The chances of Stidham becoming the next Tom Brady are slim, but there is a chance he is a serviceable quarterback.
There might even be a chance that he is as good as Kirk Cousins. When you think of amazing QB’s Cousins isn’t exactly the first name that you think of. Just cause you get a big contract doesn’t mean you are an amazing quarterback.
We saw the football I.Q. that Stidham possesses in the 2019 preseason. Also, we saw how Stidham isn’t afraid to run and use his legs to escape pressure. Compared to Brady, Stidham will look like Usain Bolt in the open field.
Also, players and coaches alike are raving about Stidham. It seems like Stidham will have a better arm than Brady had these past few seasons. This should open up the offense and allow for guys like Mohamed Sanu and N’Keal Harry to flourish.
Wiggins also went on to say how he thought that Jordan Love would be better than Stidham. I know it is early but scouts were saying how Stidham would be a top pick in this year’s Draft. Love slipped all the way to the end of the 1st round. Wiggins must be mighty confident in Love’s abilities.
But I think it is time that we throw our support behind Stidham. Saying that he won’t be a success does zero good. The New England Patriots must have picked him for a reason.
So let’s stop hating on Jarrett Stidham and wait patiently to see what he does in the 2020 season. He might just surprise some people.
