Everyone seems to want to split up the Boston Celtics young duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, but Boston needs to keep them together.

The Boston Celtics are preparing to head down to Disney and finish off their impressive 2019-20 season but we can look past that. The future of the team is really bright.

Boston has a deep team with Marcus Smart leading the 2nd unit. Then you also have veterans such as Gordon Hayward and Kemba Walker who will provide great leadership on and off the court.

More from Chowder and Champions

But the players that get Boston fans most excited are Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. These guys look like they will be stars if they aren’t already.

Tatum is having the best season of his career. He is really coming into his own and is becoming a top player in the NBA today. So far, Tatum is averaging 23.6 points and 7.1 rebounds a game.

The most impressive thing this season has been Tatum’s confidence. He has shown the ability to take over games and has been phenomenal.

Then there is Brown. Besides being a leader both on and off the court, Brown has performed well. He is averaging 20.4 points and 6.4 rebounds a game. Fans know how well Brown is at driving to the rim, but he has improved on his perimeter shooting as his increased 3 point numbers show.

But for some reason, people seem keen on separating them. One of the two players ends up in trade rumors all the time.

Ever since the Celtics drafted Tatum, fans have been wondering if they could use Brown as a trade chip to build around Tatum. Then on the other side of the spectrum, Tatum has been offered up in trades that would put the Celtics in win-now mode or get them a legitimate big.

Sometimes the best solution is the simplest. Boston should keep these two players.

Tatum and Brown (along with the rest of the talent on the C’s roster) are capable of bringing a championship to Boston. They are the future of the team and of the NBA as a whole.

Also touching on the thought that the C’s need a big, that is not the case. We have seen what today’s NBA looks like. Gone are the days of Shaquille O’Neal, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Dwight Howard backing down players in the post. The game has spread out to the perimeter and the 3 point line.

The only reason the C’s would need a big is for rebounding purposes. At the end of the day, Enes Kanter and Daniel Theis get the job done in this role.

So please stop throwing Brown and Tatum in your trade rumors. These guys deserve to spend their entire careers in Boston.
