New England Patriots: Tom Brady should’ve got a 10-year deal
By Sam Minton
Patrick Mahomes signed a 10-year deal on Monday and it shows that the New England Patriots could have kept Tom Brady if they did this long ago.
The NFL world was left stunned on Monday and New England Patriots fans are left thinking what could’ve been.
It was announced on Monday that Patrick Mahomes had signed a massive 10-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. It seems like Mahomes will be spending his entire career in KC.

The deal is worth over $500 million with incentives. He is now the richest athlete in the United States. To say that Mahomes got paid would be an understatement.
But it’s hard to say that Mahomes doesn’t deserve the deal. He is a league MVP and has already won a Super Bowl. It surely won’t be his last time making it to ‘the big game.”
Also though it seems that there is another player who deserved a deal similar to this. Tom Brady should’ve gotten this deal from the New England Patriots.
Now there has to be some suspension of disbelief. We all know how much New England loves to pay their players.
But Brady is a special case.
Of course, they shouldn’t have done it this offseason. That is past the point. If the Patriots wanted to do this they should’ve done it when Brady was in his 30’s.
We all agree that Brady should’ve retired a Patriot. The storybook ending would be for him to win one last Super Bowl with the team and go out on a high note. Fans quickly realized that this was real life and that Brady’s career wouldn’t have the desired ending.
The Patriots are experts in making contracts work in their favor. They easily could have front-loaded or back-loaded the deal to their desire. This would allow for the cap hit to be spread out and not as detrimental to the future of the team.
Even then, by just having Brady on your roster you are likely to succeed. He is the best quarterback to ever play the game. Players on his roster instantly become better players.
So it’s a shame that Brady still isn’t with the Patriots. If he signed a deal similar to Mahomes he might have stayed in New England for his entire career.
