There have been some worries about the New England Patriots signing Cam Newton. Would he fit in? Does he still have some gas left in the tank?

There is some reason to be cautious. Newton has dealt with a lot of injury problems. He hasn’t played a full season since 2017. He is now 31 years old and you have to wonder if he will be the same quarterback that he once was.

Let’s not forget that Newton was an NFL MVP. He threw for 35 touchdowns while rushing for 10. Newton is such a dynamic player that instantly improves your offense.

So far since signing with the Patriots, Newton has done everything right. He has worked out with his new teammates and seems committed to making 2020 a succesfull season.

Something about Newton seems different. He seems like a man on a mission. Patriots fans should be excited.

This quote from Newton shows that he is for real and that he could be in for an amazing season.

"“OK, I’ll be the first person to tell you, these last two years, I haven’t been putting the best film on tape. That’s just honest,” Newton continued. “But then I’m like OK, there’s other people that’s been putting [lousy] film out there that’s getting picked up. And I’m like, whoa. Like I’m feeling disrespected. Because every team at one point had to say, ‘OK, fellas, Cam Newton. What do we think? Uhhhh, pass.’ You feel me? And that’s the disrespect that I feel. I feel vindicated to some degree, but I’m searching for — I’m aiming at, I’m going at necks all year.”"

A common theme for Newton is how he feels disrespected by the teams who passed on him. It was really interesting to see just how long it took for him to get signed. Newton isn’t near his 40’s. He will be playing for a decent amount of time.

That chip on his shoulder is going to cause problems for the rest of the NFL. As long as he stays healthy, Patriots fans could be in for a great season.

Another key thing to note is Newton’s humbleness. He admits that he hasn’t been his best. In order to fix your mistakes, you need to realize you have made one. Newton knows he needs to be better.
