Similar to Rask, Charlie McAvoy seems to get on the nerves of Bruins fans. They definitley won’t be mad at him after his performance on Wednesday.
McAvoy was on the ice for nearly 19 minutes and scored his first goal up in Toronto. It was a seeing eye slap shot that gave the Bruins life. Also, the physicality and feistiness that McAvoy brought to the game was well needed.
This is the type of play the Bruins are going to need from McAvoy. Zdeno Chara is close to retiring so McAvoy will be the main man on the top defensive pairing.
Also, there is the chance that Torey Krug ends up leaving Boston. This would put a ton of pressure on McAvoy to succeed. He would have to replace a lot of scoring.
It was good to see McAvoy on the scoreboard. If he continues to play well the Bruins will be a tough team to beat once the playoffs begin.
