Christian Vazquez needs to focus on the future and not past championships especially with the Boston Red Sox performing so poorly.

This Boston Red Sox season has been one for the record books. Sadly it hasn’t been for the right reasons.

Boston has had a horrible season. They are 6-17 and are 10 games out of first place. The Red Sox have lost 8 straight games.

More from Chowder and Champions

The Red Sox recently finished a series with the Yankees and it was painful to say the least. Boston has now lost 10 straight games to the Bronx bombers.

When you are performing so poorly you really have to watch what you say. It can show the mentality of the locker room or even why the team is struggling. Thanks to Christian Vazquez we might have gotten a glimpse.

Vazquez hasn’t been so great this season. He has 4 home runs and 12 RBIs with a .247 and 22 strikeouts. He really shouldn’t be bragging about anything.

That makes these comments even more bizarre. The losses to the Yankees don’t seem to bother Vazquez too much.

"“They have no rings and I have one. We beat them in the playoffs and I like my ring.”"

Vazquez isn’t wrong, but it sends the wrong message. It shows that they are fine with past success and not looking towards the future. It’s almost like they are okay with losing.

Now we can all be honest, the Red Sox aren’t making the playoffs. They don’t have enough talent thanks to the lack of starting pitching depth. When you are playing from behind every game it’s hard to win. The team is desperately missing Chris Sale and Eduardo Rodriguez.

Still, can they at least pretend that they are trying to win and be successful? This team has the potential to be one of the worst in Boston’s history. They haven’t just been bad, they have been awful.

Next. Despite the losing, Alex Verdugo is fun to watch. dark

So stop looking back at the 2018 World Series. The focus should be on the next one. At this point just winning a game should be the goal for Boston.
