With the Boston Bruins playing back to back games in the Second Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs there’s a chance that Dan Vladar gets his first start of his career.

This has been quite the postseason for the Boston Bruins. They are in the second round but without their top goaltender. Going up against the Tampa Bay Lightning will be quite the challenge.

So far Jaroslav Halak has been decent between the pipes. He has done his job even though he has looked shaky at times.

The schedule for the Second Round was realized and it seems like the Bruins have a decision to make. Do they play Halak on back-to-back days?

Game 2 and 3 will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday. It appears the NHL is hoping to end the playoffs as soon as possible.

Now there is a chance that the Bruins just power through with Halak but that seems rather unlikely. Halak is 35 years old and could probably benefit from the rest. He probably wouldn’t be on top of his game if he played back to back games.

So that means that Dan Vladar could get his first NHL start in the Second Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

To Vladar’s credit, he has been impressive down in Providence. This season he went 14-7-1 with a 1.79 goals against average and a .936 save percentage. Also, Vladar stands tall on the ice. He is two inches taller than Tuukka Rask so he takes up most of the net.

With Rask and Halak getting older it might not be a terrible idea to let Vladar start. He would allow for Halak to rest and you would give the young goaltender some valuable experience. The perfect scenario seems to be if the Bruins win the first two games, to have Vladar start for Game Three.

If Vladar does start, Bruins fans will get to see just how bright the future is between the pipes.
