Ja’Whaun Bentley will have a breakthrough game

This will be the game New England Patriots third-year linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley establishes himself as the leader of the linebacker group.

More from Chowder and Champions

Expect him to be all over the field in this game as the Seattle Seahawks will try to establish the run with Carlos Hyde and Chris Carson.

In helping the team give up just 87 yards on the ground against the Dolphins, Ja’Whaun Bentley will be just as important if not more important in this game against the Seahawks both in his physical presence and communication.

The defensive line led by Lawrence Guy have to play solidly, but the Patriots linebackers will be attacked if Russell Wilson is forced to settle for the short stuff.  With a pass-catching running back like Carson and tight ends to get the ball to like Greg Olsen and former Patriots tight end Jacob Hollister, the intermediate stuff is what could carve up Bill Belichick’s defense if the linebackers don’t come to play.

It really starts with Ja’Whaun Bentley who week-to-week has to take on more of that Dont’a Hightower role.  In this game, he will really prove why he was named a defensive captain.

Bold prediction: Ja’Whaun Bentley combines for over 10 tackles and gets a sack on Russell Wilson.
