Sony Michel

One of the bigger disappointments so far this season has been Sony Michel. He has continued to struggle in the backfield and makes you wonder if it’s time for the Patriots to move on from him.

Against Seattle, Michel only had seven carries for 19 yards. That just isn’t good enough for a starting running back.

The main thing that annoys fans is how much Michel struggles to rack up yards. Right now, Michel is averaging 3.3 yards per carry. At that rate, it’s tough to gain first downs.

If Michel doesn’t start performing well, the Patriots will have to look at other options. Damien Harris will be returning from Injured Reserve soon so that means Michel could have some serious competition. Harris was the story of the offseason in the backfield.

The Patriots need a quality running game as well. This will help keep the defense on their toes. It will also open up the passing game as well. So far Michel and Rex Burkhead haven’t done enough.

Michel needs to start stringing together some quality performances, if not we could be seeing Michel’s time as a Patriot come to an end. That would be quite disappointing considering how much New England invested in the running back.
