Stephon Gilmore

After a great 2019 season that saw Stephon Gilmore be named Defensive Player of the Year, Patriots fans were expecting another great season from the cornerback.

Gilmore was expected to be the leader on defense. So far that hasn’t been the case. After a quality start to the season against the Dolphins, Gilmore struggled against the Seahawks.

On Sunday night, Gilmore was bullied. He allowed D.K. Metcalf to put up nearly 100 yards while being covered by Gilmore. Metcalf seemed to get under Gilmore’s skin and that got him off his game.

Gilmore will be tested again right away. The most dangerous pass threat for the Raiders is Darren Waller which could mean another mismatch for Gilmore.

Waller is a giant tight end so Gilmore will need to be all over him if he wants to be successful. With his recent performance, my confidence isn’t extremely high in Gilmore.

Sunday should be a great game and hopefully these players perform well and help the Patriots get their second win of the season.
