A veteran star receiver who may be in need of a change of scenery and a career resurgence is Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green.
The reliable 32-year-old receiver has just 14 catches for 119 yards and zero touchdowns in five games in an offense led by rookie quarterback Joe Burrow. So, is it finally time Green and the Bengals parted ways?
With young wide receiver Tee Higgins establishing himself with the team and Tyler Boyd as the clear No. 1 receiver, Cincinnati may be willing now more than ever to move A.J. Green and he could come at the cost of a mid-round pick.
Due to his age and the fact that he missed all of the 2019 NFL season due to an ankle injury, a trade for Green may not be ideal for the New England Patriots unless Belichick really feels he has something left and could serve as a reliable target for Cam Newton.
Apparently frustrated with his lack of targets in Cincinnati, A.J. Green obviously feels he has something left in the tank and something to prove. That motivation could be enough fuel to revive his career with the Patriots.
Yes, the impact is possible, but Bill Belichick needs to make sure he doesn’t have another Mohamed Sanu situation on his hands. He needs to know A.J. Green is going to be a top 3 option in the offense.
