Speaking to the media on Friday, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick might have taken a shot at Tom Brady.

It seems as though Bill Belichick will always be linked. The duo found great success working together and now that Tom Brady is no longer a member of the New England Patriots, everyone wants to find out who deserves more credit for New England’s past success.

When the talk of Brady leaving the Patriots began, everyone pointed to the QB’s relationship with Belichick and it’s reported downfall. Belichick’s newfound love of Cam Newton has only increased the intensity of these rumors.

Belichick has been extremely complimentary of Newton. He makes it seem as though he has never quarterback of his caliber.

The love affair continued on Friday when Belichick spoke about Newton’s ability to throw the deep ball. Now the comments might seem innocent but we have to factor in recent events.

Bruce Arians and Brady have recently been butting heads down in Tampa Bay. Arians has publicly called out Brady for his inability to find open receivers down the field.

So these comments might be a slight dig at Brady.

Now Newton does deserve some credit. His arm was on display last week and he has done a great job for New England this season. The issue is that Brady and Belichick have history.

It’s well known that Belichick and Brady are both some of the fiercest competitors in the game. They are always looking for a leg up on opponents and want to win no matter the cost.

It honestly wouldn’t be that shocking if this was Belichick taking a shot at Brady. The head coach wants to show that Brady isn’t the sole reason that they won all those championships.

At least in 2020, it appears that Brady will win the battle between the two. The Bucs are 7-4 (a record that Patriots fans wished their favorite team had).

But Brady hasn’t exactly been making himself look great either. He has made some horrible throws and has definitely shown his age at times. The Patriots made a smart decision moving on from him.

But Belichick will still want to outperform Brady. He will want to prove that he was the mastermind behind New England’s success. When it comes to 2020, Belichick’s efforts were a failure.

Next. Julian Edelman still has some football left. dark

Still, it appears that Belichick will get his shots in when he can and that includes making fun of Brady’s weak arm.
