But a sign that the team did improve is the play off the bench from veteran point guard Jeff Teague.
Contributing 17 points off the Celtics bench, the veteran point guard and one-time All-Star showed immediately that he is a huge upgrade over Brad Wanamaker and a reason why the team will be alright for a while without the services of Kemba Walker.
While the Celtics also saw good things from Tristian Thompson in his debut, the Teague signing will turn out to be one of the underrated signings in the NBA offseason because of what he brings off the bench in terms of leadership and experience. He is also a reliable score as he did show.
When Kemba does return, Brad Stevens will have himself quite the rotation at the point guard position with Teague, Walker and Marcus Smart.
It’s just one game, but that Jeff Teague signing is nothing to sneeze about and he’ll prove it.
