Super Bowl LV: Patriots fan rooting guide for Chiefs vs Buccaneers
For many New England Patriots fans, Super Bowl LV will be a nauseating reminder for what Bill Belichick and the team let walk away in a 43-year-old Tom Brady still playing the game like he’s in his 30s.
As for another faction of Patriots fandom, the big game between the Brady-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs will be a celebration of the twenty magical years Brady spent in New England.
Oh yeah, there is also that Rob Gronkowski guy, but Super Bowl LV is really about Brady attempting to get his seventh ring. Doing it without Belichick will be just icing on the cake.
Whether you consider yourself a team over player guy or not, you have to be fascinated by the drama and eventual storylines win or lose this big game will create.

It’s kind of funny, the New England Patriots logo or blue and silver jersey won’t run on the field led by Pat Patriot, but Super Bowl LV will have a Patriots flavor mixed in with a lot of Patrick Mahomes hype.
Patriots fans should root against Chiefs in Super Bowl LV
So, to root for or against Brady, Gronk and the Buccaneers?
The jilted ex-lover in you want to see the former faces of the Patriots come up short in their quest for another ring to stick it to that evil hoodie, but the real fan in you should be rooting for Tampa to beat Kansas City and here’s why?
Do you know if the Chiefs win, they will be the first team to win back-to-back super bowls since your New England Patriots did it back in 2003-2004 with a young version of Brady himself?
Well, while another dynasty in the NFL is inevitable, Brady and his Buccaneers stand in the way. In winning a ring with Tampa, Brady would actually help his former team hold onto their dominance in the league…at least a season longer.
What a Tom Brady victory would also do is motivate the competitive nature of Belichick in a way not seen since prior to that 2007 NFL season when the Patriots coach went out and convinced Randy Moss to regenerate his career in New England.
If all the Brady don’t need Belichick or Brady was the dynasty takes aren’t enough to poke the bear, the challenge of getting the Patriots back on top will strive Belichick’s focus in landing
players and perhaps even changing his coaching style and philosophy.
Two New England Patriots free agent targets to watch in Super Bowl LV
This leads to some players to keep an eye on in Super Bowl LV.
With a ton of cap space and needs at the wide receiver position, you might want to keep your eyes on Chris Godwin of the Buccaneers and Sammy Watkins of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Both of these playmakers will be free agents once the season ends. Both have already been linked to the New England Patriots as potential free agent targets.
Godwin would be the prize as he is a No. 1 type receiver who has big play potential. If the Buccaneers win and he’s a major reason why, his payday could be high. At just 24 years of age with a high ceiling, the Patriots may pull a Stephon Gilmore day 1 of free agency type splurge.
As far as Watkins goes, a one-year deal seems to be ideal for a talented receiver who is typically the forgotten man in Kansas City. A prove-it deal with the Pats could be in the cards.
In all, this will be a relaxing Super Bowl for New England Patriots fans. No heart palpitations or last-minute drama to anticipate, but this big game will set the stage for the 2021 version of the team. It will impact the direction they go in and also may feature some future Patriots.
