2020 was one of the worst seasons in about 20 years for the New England Patriots. They failed to be the dominant contenders that they once were and it was truly rough to watch.

Honestly, it will be difficult for New England to be worse in 2021. They set expectations rather low with how poor they were in 2020. There’s even an extra game that should help the Patriots have a better record.

More from Chowder and Champions

2020 was a weird season. Players didn’t get as much time to practice at the facility and also it was their first season without Tom Brady. Underperforming was bound to happen with all those factors in mind.

Also, we saw Cam Newton contract COVID-19 and it took him some time to recover. He mentioned that he almost had a mental fog in the first few games that he played.

So 2021 has a chance to be a bounce back season for the New England Patriots as a team, but these five players should have much better seasons after struggling in 2020.

New England Patriots: 5 players who will bounce back in 2021 – No.5: Devin Asiasi

The Patriots drafted Devin Asiasi to be a duel threat at tight end along with Dalton Keene. It’s safe to say that didn’t happen.

Asiasi was pretty awful. He failed to make an impact and was lucky to just get one touchdown. In 2020, Asiasi only tallied two catches for 39 yards. That is simply unacceptable.

But with Newton coming back for his second season, Asiasi should perform better. Also once again the bar is rather low for the tight end out of UCLA. If he tallies 100 yards he will be an improvement.

In all honesty, Asiasi should perform better after a season of experience. He is familiar with New England’s offense and will put himself in the best position.

So Patriots fans should expect Asiasi to be much better in 2021.
