Top 2021 NFL matchups: Patriots vs Bucs, Belichick vs Brady pure fire
The one game that will define the 2021 NFL regular season will be when Tom Brady storms into Foxborough leading the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers against Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.
Now, this would’ve been an anticipated matchup even if Brady didn’t hoist his 7th Lombardi Trophy, but now that he has one up over his former coach, set your DVRs, mark your calendars, get the popcorn ready, call your bosses and get the next day off if this is a Thursday, Sunday or Monday night matchup because this is going to be classic.
In fact, the only thing that would’ve made this matchup even more dramatic would’ve been if Belichick had Jimmy Garoppolo under center, but either Cam Newton or rookie Mac Jones each will add their own level of drama going up against Brady.
How will Belichick scheme up against Brady with his revamped defense?

New England Patriots vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers just too juicy
Let’s not forget Rob Gronkowski is also returning to Gillette Stadium, which is why NFL.com writer Nick Shook described this as a “revenge” type matchup in highlighting his top 10 matchups of the upcoming NFL season.
Here is what Shook had to say about this must-see battle in Foxborough:
"“’Revenge’ and/or “redemption” will be heard more than one could believe possible in the lead-up to this meeting. Tom Brady returns to Gillette Stadium for the first time since joining the Buccaneers (and winning a Super Bowl in Year 1 with his new team). Brady left behind a team that ended up in relative shambles in 2020, forced to turn to Cam Newton at quarterback in what eventually proved to be a transition year.”"
The only thing I disagree with Shook with is the fact that he has this as No. 2 on his top 10 list with the Green Bay Packers vs Kansas City Chiefs at No. 1. With the current drama surrounding Aaron Rodgers, that most-anticipated battle could turn out to be just another game.
But not the Buccaneers vs Patriots. No matter what the record is, the pure lead-up and anticipation of a showdown between the two forces behind two decades of dominance will have NFL fans everywhere tuning in just to see how Brady attacks Belichick’s defense and how Belichick attacks Brady.
Furthermore, will fans embrace or boo both TB12 and Gronk? The answer should be obvious as team loyalists will cheer the figure known as Tom Brady but will want to watch their team prevent Mr. Brady from doing the one thing that he has left to do…beat the New England Patriots.
