Remember that time the Baltimore Orioles swept the Boston Red Sox, and the season was proclaimed to be over after Opening Day weekend?

If you still believed in the Red Sox after they looked like they couldn’t bat on the ball, you are the most loyal, optimistic fan in the world.

Or perhaps, you were just realistic.  Despite getting swept in that Opening series, the MLB season is a marathon and not a sprint and this year’s version of the Red Sox are proving just that.  Since then, the Sox are 21-10 and leading the AL East and MLB with the best record in baseball.

Yes, even better than Mookie Betts and his high-powered Los Angeles Dodgers.

That is not even the best part to the Red Sox quick turnaround.  The best part is they are hitting the cover off the ball as J.D. Martinez, Xander Bogaerts, Alex Verdugo and Rafael Devers has been ballin’

Boston Red Sox throttle Orioles with an 11-run explosion

That continued Saturday night in Baltimore as the bats exploded once again for 11 runs, taking game 2 of the series at Camden Yards with an 11-6 victory.

As a Red Sox fan, you have to be enjoying the offensive pleasure this team has been producing because the production is coming from everywhere in the lineup, which is complimenting the explosive bats of Martinez, Bogaerts and Devers.

Most importantly, the entire offense is helping the pitching staff.  If the Boston Red Sox are to keep this up, that combination of great offensive and solid pitching will have to continue.

Saturday night’s starter Garrett Richards is certainly fired up about his team and their promise.

"“Amazing, man.  Absolutely amazing,” Richards said following the game, via MLB.com.  “I mean, these guys, this team in general, you guys have seen it for a month and a half now, it’s a really good team.  We’re not weak in very many areas and I think it’s still early.  I don’t even think we’ve peaked yet.  We just show up every day with the mindset that we’re going to win today.”"

And win they did.

Boston Red Sox getting contributions from unexpected places

You know what else is fun and “amazing” about this 2021 version of the Boston Red Sox?

They are getting contributions from everyone.

The last two games it has been Franchy Cordero and Bobby Dalbec displaying their heroics at the plate and Saturday night it was a player who refuses to be forgotten.  That player was Michael Chavis.

Called up from Triple-A in place due to the Kike Hernandez injury, Chavis joined the fun by smacking a two-run homer into the Baltimore night.  It not only reminded fans of the power the slugger has, but also showcased how deep this Red Sox team suddenly are.

Xander Bogaerts, who has elevated his game to an MVP level, appreciates the offensive support coming from up and down that Boston Red Sox batting order.

"“Chavis, he comes up and he gets a homer his first game,” Bogaerts said. “I mean it’s just, it’s contagious, surrounding him with good hitters. I feel like good things happen that way, you know, and from top to bottom. I mean, especially the bottom half of the lineup. There was a lot of talk about that [earlier]. Now they’re getting on base and they’re doing a heck of a job. Obviously, being on base for the top of the order has been very nice and just having a lot of traffic, that creates a lot of problems for the other team.”"

The bottom of the order coming through makes this Red Sox offense even more dangerous.

The Orioles witnessed that firsthand Saturday night.  In the opening series they silenced those bats, a month and a half later, they can’t seem to stop them from whistling the ball all over the park.
