Mac Jones will eventually shred the AFC East and the NFL as the New England Patriots have themselves the next, great NFL quarterback. You heard it here, first. Forgive me for the giddiness.

To Patriots haters, I have bad news for you. Very bad. We’re back! It may not be this year or next even, but soon, very soon. I have seen the future and the future is Mac Jones.

Now, why this so definitive and very boldly positive prediction of the future of the red, white blue, and silver? That’s easy. Watch the young man play.

Taking a long look at Jones’s film at Alabama makes it, perfectly clear, this young man can play. This young man can play quarterback. This young man can do it all.

More from Chowder and Champions

And the key to his success is … decision-making. He just knows where to go with the ball. It’s clear as day. The young man just knows what to do with the ball. His decision-making is reminiscent of a certain Tom Brady, who used to play for the team.

Feel sorry for the contenders in the AFC East and elsewhere who will have to try to defend this UBER quarterback in the future. Get used to this idea, you won’t be able to as long as the team provides the requisite weaponry.

Why Mac Jones will lead the New England Patriots to the Super Bowl

It’s not rocket science to and not subtle to know why and how Mac Jones will be the next great quarterback of the Patriots.

And this brings no disrespect to Cam Newton, among my favorite players on the Patriots. It’s just an observation from a fan who has been following the team for a long time.

The fact of the matter is, this young quarterback, he of the not-so-ripped versions of quarterbacks, like the aforementioned No. 12 is a quiet, but yet very effective football battler.

The Patriots somehow, someway, stumbled onto this amazing young player at No. 15 in the NFL draft. Whether it was luck, serendipity, whatever. It is just terrific.

At present, it is doubtful that the Patriots “brain trust” is even aware of how good this amazing quarterback practitioner really is. If so, Bravo. If not, you just lucked out.

Mac Jones, fellow New England Patriots fans, can do it all. A caveat: he is not as fast as Lamar Jackson of the Ravens. Yet, he’s not an 18-wheeler truck slow either.

But, absent an ability to break off a play and dash downfield for 40 yards on his own wheels with tremendous alacrity, there is little on a football field that this young quarterback can’t do.

Why the critics are wrong about New England Patriots QB Mac Jones

Now the cognoscenti say that Mac Jones was a creation of the great team around him, just another product of the Alabama championship juggernaut.

To some extent, like any other successful quarterback, he relies on his fellow players. That’s a point well taken and agreed to here.

Yet, in Jones’s case, think again. If you look at the film, the success was due not only to the admittedly amazing complement of receivers he had at his disposal at Alabama but also to his singular ability to get those receivers the ball.

He accomplished this at the very right time and the very right place to make it all work. Take a look at his body of work. It’s explicit in its ability to clearly demonstrate just how Jones made that fantastic Alabama offense into all that it could be.

Jones, the master craftsman, made every throw in the playbook and in so doing made all the constituent pieces fall together into a national champion. And, it was no accident. It was just talent.

Again, if you think the system made Jones, think again. He made the system work to its utmost effectiveness. He utilized the terrific weapons at his disposal with unprecedented effectiveness.

His 77.4 percent completion percentage in 2020 is simply the best ever (at least since 1956). How good is that? It’s the all-time best good.

So let’s conclude this missive with the following, the greatest ever, Tom Brady left the New England Patriots for a better climate and ostensibly a better team. Whatever.

The next great quarterback in the NFL resides where Brady left, in Foxborough. So, be aware, and be afraid. The New England Patriots will be back in style with Mac Jones. Hope you enjoy the ride.
