Boston Bruins: 3 players who need to improve in Round 2 – No.1: Brandon Carlo

Frankly, it’s just good to see Brandon Carlo on the ice during the playoffs.  He has struggled with injuries that have usually kept him out of the postseason.

Carlo had a strong regular season. While he ended up missing some time due to injury due to an awful Tom Wilson hit, Carlo was still able to tally three goals and an assist in 27 games.

When Carlo was on the ice he looked good. He knew when to pinch on the attack and also made some strong plays in Boston’s zone. It was some of the best play that the Bruins have gotten out of Carlo.

But against Washington, Carlo was one of the players who struggled the most. Anytime a defender has a plus-minus in the negatives it isn’t a good sign.

Ideally, you would want to see Carlo get on the score sheet but the most important thing is seeing him play some quality defense. McAvoy and Matt Grzelcyk can be relied on to provide most of the scoring from the blue line.

If these players improve and Boston is able to maintain their level of play, there is no doubt that they will advance past Round Two of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
