All the Boston Red Sox bats needed to get out of their slump was a dose of New York Yankees pitching as the offense came through in a 7-3 victory in the second game of the three-game series.

A day after Rafael Devers admired a colossal 3-run homer at Yankees Stadium, young power-hitting first baseman Bobby Dalbec further introduced himself to the historic rivalry with a mammoth 2-run blast into the Bronx night that kept the momentum going for the Red Sox offense that really has shown up through the first two games of the series.

The killer home run to left-center field was projected at 453 feet and once again showcases the power of Dalbec when he does get his bat on the ball.

Take a look at the blast off Yankees reliver Chad Green:

The homer served as insurance as it followed clutch RBIs by Enrique Hernandez and Christian Vazquez to give the Red Sox the lead in the sixth inning.

Ironically, it was those three hitters who Red Sox manager Alex Cora who were putting up good swings in batting practice prior to the game.

"“You saw the guys that were out there earlier [before the game] hitting off the machine with velocity,” Cora said, via MLB.com.  “It was Christian, [Hernandez] and Bobby, and they had big hits today, the three of them.”"

Boston Red Sox young slugger doing what it takes to stay ready

After seeing his playing time diminish the last 10 games, it was very good to see Dalbec come up in a big spot and produce.

As he continues to struggle with consistency at the plate, the Red Sox first baseman is doing what it takes to stay sharp on the days he is not playing.  Whether it is catching pitches in the bullpen or drills in which he stands closer to a that same high-velocity pitching machine Cora mentioned, the young slugger is staying focused on improving and staying ready for when his number is called.

"“I’ve been talking about that myself, too, just how to stay sharp in doing that,” Dalbec said prior to the game Saturday, via Masslive.com.  “It’s just treating every day like I’m going to get in there.  Anything can happen.  Just being ready from the first inning on is something I’m trying to get better at mentally when I’m not playing, especially with a couple days off.”"

In his first full season in the majors, it is expected for Bobby Dalbec to go through some struggles as opposing pitching has figured him out, but the struggles he has gone through at the plate this season has diminished the high expectations the young power hitter had going for him coming into the season.

In all, his 6 homers and 24 RBI are not too bad offensive stats through 46 games, it’s just that the .199 batting average makes it hard to for Cora to keep him in the lineup when the entire lineup is also struggling.

Perhaps, the two-run missile Saturday night will lead to more consistency for Dalbec.  However, seems we’ve been saying that for the last couple of months when it comes to the Red Sox young slugger.
