On the menu for the Boston College Eagles offense in 2021 is a team that comes with many moving parts and deep with talent.

Putting all parts together should provide a refreshing mix of big plays and a lot of points on the scoreboard.

Five outstanding lineman, including AP Preseason 1st-team All-American selection Zion Johnson, will help protect and pave the way for quarterback Phil Jurkovec. Jurkovec, now in his second year with Boston College, has laid the groundwork for big things and has a receiving corps ripe with talent to throw to.

Spreading the ball around, however is only the beginning. Hope is that the running game can re-establish itself. And a big void needs to be replaced at tight end, where Hunter Long is now suiting up on Sundays for the Miami Dolphins.

Chances will be had by many this season to contribute. Here are three under-the-radar players set to have a breakout season for the Boston College Eagles.

Possible highlights galore with Boston College Eagles RB

Entering 2021 as a redshirt sophomore, Pat Garwo III has the opportunity to build upon the brief glimpses of excitement he displayed last season.

Of course, much of that depends on who emerges from the full stable of running backs now on Boston College.

Garwo might not end up being the starter but his opportunities will be plentiful. He provided a nice third option at running back in the seven games he played in 2020. It even appeared he was on track to get even more touches before getting banged up.

Potential is certainly there for Garwo to do nice things. He carried the ball 33 times for 122 yards last season. Garwo also had seven receptions for 31 yards.

In 2021, Garwo should be able to gobble yards by the handful, getting perhaps close to five yards per carry. He does have the “shed-the-tackler” mentality and is tough to take down. If he rises to the front of the pack, it’s not impossible to envision Garwo gaining between 700-900 yards on the ground.

Barring injuries, however, time will likely be split between Garwo, Travis Levy and West Virginia transfer Alec Sinkfield. Both Levy and Sinkfield are skilled runners and deserve time on the field as well.

The running back position will see plenty of players rotating in. So, too, will the tight end position.
