The biggest X-factor for the New England Patriots vs the Miami Dolphins this Sunday can only be one player, Mac Jones. There’s no secret there. Who else could it possibly be?

The rookie gunslinger has won the job over a well-performing Cam Newton (no matter what his critics contend) to own the opportunity. And he’s totally ready to pick up that gauntlet. Count on it.

If there is/was any doubt whatsoever of his intentions, he made that clear when he said New England was the team he wanted to be drafted by and play for. That is interesting, indeed.

Why Mac Jones is the New England Patriots biggest X-factor vs. the Miami Dolphins

Now, why would any young quarterback want to follow (after one year) in the brontosaurus-sized footprints of the greatest quarterback ever? It seems a logical and reasonable question.

More from Chowder and Champions

The answer is maybe not so logical, but in the case of the young man named Michael (that has a nice sound to it, don’t know why he wouldn’t use it) McCorkle Jones, it makes perfect sense.

Mac Jones is a perfect fit for the New England Patriots. His style of play, accuracy, and intuition all fit the New England Patriots to a T.

Jones was born for this moment, 1:00 PM, Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Massachusetts wearing the red, white, blue, and silver of the New England Patriots.

The best and brightest aspect of this for any citizen of Patriots Nation is that this young man wants the challenge and thrives in times of the greatest challenges.

The legacy of Tom Brady is evidently no obstacle for him whatsoever. Brady’s legacy in New England is what it was. And his overall legacy is still being constituted at age 44. Just amazing.

But Brady left Foxborough and no longer plays for the New England Patriots. He’s no longer leading the Patriots out of the tunnel on games days. Mac Jones will now or soon.

Mac Jones feels this 2021 version of the New England Patriots is his team and its achievements will be his achievements.

He’s a master craftsman at the art of quarterbacking. He relishes the situation and it says quite emphatically here, he will thrive in the moment and seize the day.
