Boston Celtics Rumors: 2 potential Ben Simmons trades that could happen
The Boston Celtics 2021-22 season has not gotten off to a great start. They are 4-6 through their first 10 games, and now they are set to be without Jaylen Brown for the next few games due to a hamstring injury. We have seen signs of improvement lately, especially during their recent three game road trip (particularly against the Miami Heat), but the results still aren’t exactly what the team and their fans are looking for.
As a result, the front office, led by new President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens, has already started looking into making some moves to improve this roster. Recent reports have suggested that Stevens has approached the Philadelphia 76ers to see where they stand on their unhappy guard Ben Simmons. Simmons would be a perfect fit in Boston’s system, and it’s a surprise it took them this long to reach out and see what the deal was with Simmons.
The problem is that the 76ers have said any deal for Simmons would have to involve Brown, who has been arguably Boston’s best player to start the season. Brown for Simmons straight up just makes no sense for Boston, and unless the 76ers create a deal the C’s can’t turn down (which seems extremely unlikely) the Celtics would be stupid to even think about dealing Brown.
76ers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey seems to think he’s going to get a huge return for a player that is getting paid millions of dollars to do nothing this season, and it’s not going to happen. The bet here is he caves in eventually, and realizes he’s not going to get what he wants for Simmons. Once that happens, the Celtics should be ready to pounce. Here are two potential trades involving Simmons that could happen at some point this season.
