In case you hadn’t heard, longtime New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady retired on Tuesday morning. This marked the end of a long 23 year career in the NFL.

While the last three years were spent in the sunny, Florida weather with the Bucs; it doesn’t take away from the legend that Brady created here in New England.

So at this point, what would be the logical ending for Tom Brady in all of this? Well, I think it just makes sense that us Patriots fans should want a one day contract for Thomas Edward Patrick Brady.

New England Patriots are nowhere near as relevant without Tom Brady

With Tom Brady retiring, we can now look back on all of the good times that he brought to the organization. Now without the gut-wrenching feeling of him playing actively for another NFL team!

We all know how much Robert Kraft loves, values, and respects Tom Brady. Honestly, how could Kraft not have that type of deep love for Brady?

The former 199th overall pick had a way to win. Simply win, that’s it.

Nine appearances to the Super Bowl with the Patriots is insane to think about in a span of 20 years. Now throw into the fact that Tom Brady-led Patriots teams won six of those Super Bowls.

The three losses they had? All by one possession. So the Patriots always had a chance at a Super Bowl victory with ol’ reliable number 12 out under center.

Why would the New England Patriots let Tom Brady retire a Buccaneer?

This is a question that I’m having a hard time answering.

Yes, we know about all of the drama that surrounded Tom Brady and the Patriots after their mutual split. Brady goes on to play in Tampa Bay for three seasons, wins a Super Bowl his first year there, you know the story by now.

But when you’ve spent 20 of your 23 seasons in the same uniform, wouldn’t you want to retire with that team? Considering they were the team that gave you your shot to be a living NFL legend?

Unless the pettiness is still fresh and real, which it seems like is not the case, then Brady retiring. Buccaneer doesn’t make much sense. Number 12 should be retired in Foxboro forever.

The bottom line with the New England Patriots and Tom Brady

Tom Brady had a number of receivers that led to an amazing Hall of Fame worthy career.

From Troy Brown, to Randy Moss, to Wes Welker, to Julian Edelman, and so many more! These were guys that helped Brady get to where he is today.

While what Brady did with the Bucs is extremely impressive, the man is a Patriot through and through. Let’s not beat around the bush with this.

Robert Kraft wants to get this done. Patriots fans want to see it happen. Why hesitate any longer? Get this one day contract done. There can be so many celebrations happening at Gillette and the fans can get their happily ever after, that they thought would originally happen when Brady was here the first time.
