Fair warning before reading this article about the Boston Celtics, it may send some anger through your bones.

With the NBA trade deadline coming up on Thursday, February 9; there are some names being flown around.

For the Celtics, Grant Williams is a name to keep an eye on. Payton Pritchard is as well. We also are officially back to the Kevin Durant rumors.

Kyrie Irving was traded to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday, leaving the Nets with a difficult decision regarding what to do with the superstar Durant.

I’m just here to say that the Boston Celtics need to stop involving themselves with any Kevin Durant rumors.

Boston Celtics can’t get Kevin Durant without trading Jaylen Brown

We all know that the Brooklyn Nets would ideally like an All-star in exchange for the former Texas star. That All-star that everyone talks about with the Celtics, in this particular trade, is Jaylen Brown.

At only the age of 26, Brown is turning himself into one of the better players in the NBA. He made the All-star team this season, while having career highs in points per game (27), minutes per game (36) and field goal percentage (.490). He’s really coming into his own in the NBA. That’s why the Celtics need to keep him in Boston.

Why would you get rid of a 26 year old that is just getting into his prime? Especially when he’s proven he can partner up with Jayson Tatum and win at a high level? That just doesn’t sit well with me.

You can potentially have another decade of Jaylen Brown if you really want to! Why mess around with a good thing?

Boston Celtics would get an injured, heavy contract star in Kevin Durant

There are two (other) things that I wouldn’t be a fan of if Kevin Durant ends up a Celtic.

The first part that is concerning is the injury history. Durant has missed a LOT of time in his career because of injuries, including whole seasons. Do the Celtics really want to take a chance on a guy staying healthy for a whole season? Especially if that guy is supposed to be the last piece to a championship roster?

The second part is K.D.’s massive contract. He’s still due to make nearly $150 million over the next three years. Does Brad Stevens want to take on such a massive contract with substantial cap hits? That money could be used to keep Brown and Tatum as Celtics for life!

Unless Brown is miraculously not included in a deal, then keep Kevin Durant out of the Celtics mouths.

This Celtics team has a really good thing going on right now. If they want to improve, make smaller moves and get contracts on the books that have multiple years and team control.

Even taking on guys like Jakob Poeltl or Kelly Olynyk can help improve this team, specifically in the front court.

So again, Kevin Durant WITHOUT Jaylen Brown is a move that I would MAYBE entertain. If Jaylen Brown is anywhere close to these trade rumors, abort mission ASAP!
