Boston Bruins are giving fans a season for the ages
Winning cures all. Or something to that degree! For the Boston Bruins, winning has been something that has come early and often in the 2022-2023 season.
The Bruins won again on Thursday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs with a 2-1 overtime victory. David Pastrnak also netted his 57th goal of the season for the game winner.
It’s clear the Bruins are the favorite to win the Stanley Cup right now. Some people have probably already bet on them in some capacity! Whether it be a single game or a future to win it all.
But we have to keep things in perspective. What the Bruins are doing this season is something that diehard and casual fans alike have to cherish and not take for granted.
Boston Bruins probably losing a pair of veterans after this season
It’s hard to keep a good thing going forever. Ask any other team that was considered a dynasty beforehand.
That includes the run this Bruins team is making. The worst part is that after the season, they will probably lose two of the more beloved veterans on the team: Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci.
The pair of teammates both signed a one year contract in the off-season to be with the Bruins for 2022-2023. It wouldn’t really surprise anyone if they decided to hang up the skates for good at seasons’ end.
Bergeron is 37 years old, been with the Bruins organization since 2003; and has sustained many major injuries along the way. There were a lot of reports that he’d retire after last season. But when Bruce Cassidy got fired and Jim Montgomery entered the picture, he decided to give it another go.
Krejci is 36 years old and has been with the Bruins organization since 2006. He took a gap year between the Bruins and playing for his home country of the Czech Republic in 2021. He returned to the Bruins on a one year deal this year, and it’s seemed to pay off tremendously for that second line.
If the Bruins win the cup, they’ll surely go out on top. If not, will they put their bodies through another grueling season and sign another one year contract each?
Boston Bruins seemingly getting all of the bounces going their way
This season, everything seems to be going right for the Boston Bruins (*knocks on wood as that line is reread again*) which is awesome!

They’re one of the best third period teams in all of the NHL. There’s never a deficit that seems too big to come back from with this group. The chemistry off the ice seems to be as high as it has every been.
When everything goes your way, it usually leads to an extended postseason run or even a championship. All of Boston is hoping that second option is the actual outcome and is more realistic than anyone else might think.
The bottom line with the Boston Bruins magical season
There’s only four regular season games left for this Bruins team. If they get the record for most regular season wins, that’s cool! But it’s all about winning 16 games in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
But we still have to take a minute and say thank you to this Bruins team in 2022-2023. Don Sweeney has pushed the right buttons. Montgomery ended up being the right selection to lead this team into the future. We may never see a team this dominant again in our lifetime.
So thank you and bring the Cup home to Boston!
