3 Realistic Celtics Trade Targets at the Deadline
By Ryan Markham
2. Torrey Craig, SF/PF, Bulls
The 34-year-old South Carolina native would be another cheap option for the Celtics to pursue at the deadline. Craig has played for the Nuggets, Bucks, Suns, Pacers, and Bulls during his 8-year NBA career.
He is a 6-foot-5 wing who plays hard and can shoot the 3. Craig is no stranger to the playoffs either, with 19 starts and 75 games played in the postseason. He started every game for the Suns in their 2023 first-round series against the Clippers.
An ankle injury has kept Craig out since December 30th, but his return is expected to be soon and shouldn't hold the Celtics back from trying to acquire him. Craig has played in 9 games this season, averaging 6.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and shooting 42.9% from 3. Although it is a small sample size this season, Craig is a career 35.5% shooter from behind the arc.
Craig would provide the three-and-d skillset when needed for Joe Mazzula and add a proven playoff performer for the bench squad. He would slot in nicely for Boston as a wing alongside Sam Hauser off the bench.
The Bulls (20-27) are clinging to the last play-in spot in the East, and the franchise's direction remains to be seen, deciding if they'll be buying or selling at the deadline. Again, Jaden Springer would presumably be the odd man out, heading to Chicago if this trade came to life.
Like Javonte Green, Craig is a cheap rental option for the Celtics, as he is only making $2.85 million this season with Chicago. Craig will be a free agent after the season.
