3. Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, Raiders

Josh McDaniels and the Las Vegas Raiders I think were really hoping for Tom Brady to continue playing in 2023, and join them in Vegas. Unfortunately, just like Luke denied Palpatine and Vader, the hopes of the Empire in Vegas came crashing down and they were forced to pivot.

Instead of getting "Luke Skywalker" to join them in Las Vegas, the Raiders were forced to settle on Jar Jar Binks.

Okay, that's a little harsh. Jimmy Garoppolo has done some good things in the NFL. But Jar Jar Binks did some good stuff for the Republic as well.

Star Wars jokes aside, the Raiders settling on Jimmy Garoppolo in the 2023 offseason felt very much like settling. Garoppolo was not even healthy enough to sign a contract and had to amend his contract in order to get the deal done in the first place, which should have been the first sign of disaster for the Raiders.

Garoppolo has played six games this season for the Raiders with seven touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also contributed to ticking off star wide receiver Davante Adams. The last time we saw Garoppolo on the field was October 30, and he completed less than 48 percent of his passes while also taking six sacks.

I don't think we're going to see him take the field for the Raiders again, barring injury. For those keeping track at home, that's three years, $72.75 million, $45 million in guaranteed money for six games, seven touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
