Bill Belichick Rumored to Have Next Job Already Lined Up
With the New England Patriots firmly out of any contending or playoff conversation, the latest buzz around the team is focused on Bill Belichick's job security. There have been a number of rumors that have popped up regarding if/when Belichick could leave the team with this season already down the drain.
The latest rumor, courtesy of ESPN's Dan Orlovsky, even claims Belichick has another destination already lined up if he departs New England.
Bill Belichick Rumors
Orlovsky said on Pat McAfee's show that he's hearing that Belichick will be coach/GM of another team next season. The former NFL quarterback added that a "location" may already be set as well.
Obviously, we have to take everything around the Belichick situation with a grain of salt right now. This is one of the biggest stories not just in football, but in the entire sports world, so there are a ton of people trying to capitalize on that attention by claiming they have insight.
That being said, the theme of Belichick splitting ways with the Patriots in 2024 continues to pop up no matter who's talking. That could indicate Robert Kraft actually does want to make a move when the dust settles on this campaign.
Though fans might be eager to see Belichick canned ASAP so the rebuild can start, that wouldn't be the most beneficial for New England. The team could easily snag some sort of compensation in a trade for Belichick's rights, so it's wise to just let this year play out before exploring ways to move on.
While Belichick rumors swirl, we'll see if these murmurs have any impact on the players who currently call him coach. They should win their next game out of the bye with the New York Giants on tap, but considering how they've played this season, a loss wouldn't surprise anyone at this point.
