As if the Patriots' 15-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins wasn't difficult enough to swallow for New England fans, Dolphins quarterback Tyler Huntley added insult to injury during his postgame press conference.

When asked about the physical presence of the team, Huntley stated "We were going straight downhill at the defense, and it showed that they couldn't hold up."

NFL News: Tyler Huntley Pokes Fun At Patriots After Week 5 Win

His comments come after the Dolphins struggled to score in the red zone for much of the game. Miami was held to just a field goal in the first half, and did not score a touchdown until running back Alec Ingold capped a 15-play, 80-yard drive with 4:24 left in the game.

The Dolphins then failed to convert the two-point attempt, leaving the Patriots needing just a touchdown to win with ample time to drive down the field. New England made it to the red zone and were a Ja'Lynn Polk toe-tap away from the game-winning score.

As odd as Huntley's comments may have seemed given that context, he did have a point. The Patriots' defense has been considered the strength of the team for the past several seasons, but the team gave up 372 yards of offense against the Dolphins and failed to prevent them from scoring in crunch time. Huntley went 18 of 31 for 194 passing yards and a 63.1 Quarterback Rating, while leading his team to 24 first-downs.

Since taking over for injured starter Tua Tagovailoa after his Week 3 concussion, he has thrown for 290 yards and has completed 60.4% of his passes, with his lone interception so far coming from Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez in the first quarter.

Huntley and the Dolphins lost a valuable offensive piece in running back De'Von Achane, who left early with a concussion. The Patriots had injury woes of their own on defense, playing without linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley, safety Kyle Dugger, and captain Jabrill Peppers.

The news on Peppers only got worse Monday morning when Peppers was arrested following troubling charges. With coach Jarod Mayo trying to navigate the Peppers situation, a brewing quarterback controversy, and a struggling offensive line, Huntley's comments may have diagnosed yet another problem for the rookie head coach to solve ahead of the team's Week 6 matchup with the highly talented Houston Texans.
