Not to mention, they'll be without tackle Caedan Wallace and center David Andrews along the trenches.
But it wasn't all bad news on the injury front as a key playmaker will make his debut against the Miami Dolphins.

Patriots News: Kendrick Bourne Set To Make Season Debut on Sunday
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Patriots are activating receiver Kendrick Bourne from the PUP list and he's slated to make his season debut against the Miami Dolphins.
Bourne tore his ACL last season and has been rehabbing tirelessly to get back onto the field. He'll look to give the passing attack some juice, which will make Jacoby Brissett's life a little bit easier.
Although Bourne won't jump back into his normal snap count, his presence will make things smoother on the offensive end.
The Patriots roll into this game, ranked last in the NFL in passing offense (112.3) and 31st in points per game (13).
Not one New England receiver has logged 100-plus yards on the season. DeMario Douglas currently leads the way with 94 receiving yards.
Over 41 games with the Patriots, Bourne has logged 127 receptions (173 targets) for 1,640 yards and 10 touchdowns. Brissett needs the 29-year-old's savvy veteran presence out there for the offense.
They need to spark this passing attack and Bourne will help with that.
